Mimi is a multidisciplinary maker and visual artist who creates fun, colourful and quirky textile accessories showcasing her sweetly eccentric illustrative designs of cute things like cats, breakfast pastries and wiener dogs. She obtained a BFA in Painting and Drawing from Concordia University in 2009 and a technical diploma in Textile Construction from the Cégep du Vieux-Montréal in 2015, where she studied woven and knitted structures. Her particular interest in surface design and repeat patterns led her specialize in digitally-assisted machine-knitting, using SilverReed Studio machines and Design-a-Knit software. Mimi is also a screenprinter, graphic artist, crochet teacher and avid skateboarder. This summer she will be collaborating with artists Pepa Chan and Kailey Bryan on “Grass In The Sky”, a textile art installation situated in an abandoned house in Port Union, NL.
