Things to Consider when Applying for Residency

  • How long you want the residency to be e.g. 2 weeks – 6 months and beyond
  • Do you want to stay local or do you want to travel
  • Do you want to be paid
  • Do you want to pay for the residency
  • Where can you get funding to go.  E.g. travel, accommodation, food, etc
  • Are you willing to teach
  • Are you willing to do an artist talk
  • What are the responsibilities of host
  • What are your responsibilities

Support Materials to Compile when Applying for a Residency

This is a general list.  You will need to confirm with your desired residency what they want/need from you.

  • A portfolio showing current work
  • A current CV
  • A statement of how the residency will contribute to your craft/artistic practice
  • A description of the workshop you will deliver
  • A proposed outline of the educational component you will partake in
  • A description of how your background will aid or help heritage groups in the area
  • Images of your current work
  • Letter of intent
