Morgaine Parnham’s childhood was split between exploring the woods of Portugal Cove and the back alleys of downtown St. John’s, Newfoundland. This divide has contributed to her love of hidden surroundings. Whether it be peeling paint or lichen covered rocks, Morgaine finds the overlooked details of life fascinating.
Currently she has been focused on weaving, playing with the pattern, colour, and textures inspired by her surroundings and experiences. She has also developed a successful line of machine embroidered skylines. These skylines are the views from the back alleys and atypical of other local sky and landscapes.
Morgaine is a recent graduate of the College of the North Atlantic’s, Textile: Craft & Apparel Design program which is a two-year diploma program offered in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Her work has been shown at the Craft Council of Newfoundland & Labrador, and the Atlantic Craft Trade Show, and she has participated in group exhibitions including Comfort & Joy, at the Craft Council of Newfoundland & Labrador’s Gallery, and Cut & Baste, her graduate exhibition.
In 2012 Morgaine’s work sold at the Craft Council’s Christmas Craft Fair, the Anna Templeton Centre’s Christmas Tea & Sale, and the Fresh Fish Craft Market. She is also a participant in the Craft Incubator Program at the Quidi Vidi Village Plantation. The craft incubator is a highly sought after placement offering studio space and programing with the goal of nurturing and advancing the business goals of emerging craftspeople. Currently Morgaine’s work is available at The Plantation.

The Quidi Vidi Village Plantation is a craft incubation facility, designed to accelerate the growth of emerging artists and their businesses.
Each of the craftspeople who lease studios in the Plantation have passed through a rigorous selection process, and must participate in an extensive training regime.
We welcome the public to come and watch these craftspeople work, and to support them by purchasing some of their fine craft items.
